The Enchanted Wardrobe

A magical, time-travelling wardrobe exploring the past, present and future of the Mendip Hills.

A magical, time-travelling wardrobe inviting communities across the Mendip Hills to journey through the history of the landscape and imagine what the Mendip Hills could look like in 2036.

Created and produced by Trigger and commissioned and funded by the Mendip Hills National Landscape Team, The Enchanted Wardrobe is a free, five-minute immersive experience touring communities across the south-facing slopes of the Mendip Hills this October.

Visitors are invited to step through the specially created wardrobe and listen to an audio journey through the history of the Mendip Hills, from the Ice Age to the present day. At the end of the journey, they are asked to think about the future of the landscape and share their ideas through a short questionnaire.

The project asks local communities to imagine what the Mendip Hills will look like in 2036. The responses will help inform a large future funding application for the Mendip Hills, exploring how the landscape can respond to a changing climate while continuing to be a place where people and nature can thrive.
