Nurture

Twenty students at Weston College took part in brand new Nurture programme.

In June 2025, we introduced students at Weston College to Nurture; a fast-paced, collaborative experience designed to reflect the energy and demands of creative production in the arts and cultural industries.

Students from Music, Graphic Design, Fashion, Art & Design, Media Studies, and Photography came together to respond to a creative brief and develop a prototype artistic response.

Across one week, students were split into three groups containing a mixture of courses and skills, to explore and produce an artistic response to a theme.

Two groups chose to respond to 'Nature and Tech'. The first group developed an interactive tree sculpture and sound piece that encouraged discussions around climate change and fast fashion.

The second group explored how nature and tech can work together positively, through costume, set design, and an experimental soundtrack, that took inspiration from a range of artists, from Bjork to Nine Inch Nails.

The third group responded to 'A Choice to Die', creating an emotional set piece of a hospital room with accompanying soundtrack.

Our week culminated in a showcase where we invited industry professionals, Weston College staff, and friends & family to experience the installations and hear each of the groups pitch their concept and discuss their creative process.
