Introducing: The Big One Hundred

Something magical has been spotted in Ashdown Forest!

Tales of a rather curious creature hiding in the Forest stretch from Ashdown Forest to Hailsham. Some people say they’ve seen something tiptoeing through the trees, others have spotted it hopping across the heathland.

No one knows what it looks like, what it likes to do, or where it hides when it’s not being watched, but the Forest offers gentle clues. At dawn it giggles in the glades and sometimes it plays hide-and-seek in the heather. All we know is that it is friendly, playful and full of magic, with a story waiting to be written.

Coming this summer, The Big One Hundred is a programme of performances, events and workshops focused on protecting Ashdown Forest and other treasured national landscapes for the next hundred years, while celebrating the joy of reading, play and the great outdoors. We will be introducing a new character to the Forest, who will be popping up across Sussex to delight and inspire children to see the magic in nature.

We’re looking for imaginative adventurers to help imagine this brand-new story and bring this mysterious new friend to life. Have you seen it in the Forest? Can you tell us what it looks like? Send us your ideas and drawings of this new creature by tagging @triggerstuff on Instagram or emailing your ideas to hello@triggerstuff.co.uk.
