Watch the Water
From 20 August 2011
An ambient audio work contemplating the gothic soul of the streets, linking the galleries of the Edinburgh Art Festival.
Download our free iPhone app and collect hidden stories on your journey through the festival. Let the water lead you to unexpected places at the heart of the city and see the festival with very different eyes.
Centuries ago Edinburgh was built on a rock surrounded by marshes. Rain has never been far away. Water drains through the steep streets and finds its own level in the accumulated layers of the city. The continuous configuration of stories lingering just below the surface of the Edinburgh streets will be accessible for a few days only.
To help you steer a path through Edinburgh, we commissioned artist J.Maizlish to make an overlay to accompany the official Edinburgh Art Festival map. You can pick it up at venues around Edinburgh. Or you can download it by clicking on the image below.
You can download Watch the Water FREE from the Apple App Store after 20 August.
